Personally, I love when its overcast and rainy, it feels like it adds storybook magic to my surroundings. Plus selfie lighting is bomb, see #4. On the other hand, I know it can bum some people out. So here are 7 things that I like to do on a rainy day even if you hate them.
1. Give yourself a Mani/Pedi
One of my favorite things is having my nails neat clean and pretty. Don’t ask me why, but I feel like my hands and feet are a million times prettier when they are polished all one length. There is something incredibly satisfying about it to me. When its rainy and yucky outside, what better time is there to sit down and do you nails? You don’t really want to get up and do anything anyways so you have all the time you need to sit still for a while wait for your nails to dry. Which, admittedly is the worst part of doing your nails.
2. Read a book
Sitting down to read a good book while it’s raining outside sucks you in. I’ve blown through hundreds of pages and lost track of hours when reading while its raining. If you don’t know what to read, check out my list of books to read in 2017.
3. Organize something
I know this one seems more like a chore, but have you ever gone into a room in your house and started to clean only to get distracted by one corner of it and spend like an hour going through one box? Organize something small. Try alphabetizing your blu-rays or organizing your nail polishes by color; go HAM, be the neat freak you want to be in a small project. You’ll feel totally satisfied and want to brag to your mom about how organized you are.
4. Take a selfie
Some of my best selfies are taken on really rainy overcast days. The soft natural light is awesome. Do your makeup (Or don’t! Natural is beautiful too!), take a bangin’ selfie, and post it up!
5. Take a hot bath
Something about the rain makes everything feel kind of cold and damp even in a warm house. Plus, I always keep a unhealthy stock of bath bombs, so I tend to use one whenever I have an excuse to. If you’re more of a bubbles kind of person then go ahead and dump in all the bath soap. Treat yo self!
6. Watch an old movie
Kick back with a fluff blanket on the couch and put on a classic, or better yet, a musical (yes, I am one of *those* kinds of people). Some of my favorites are “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,” “Funny Girl,” and “Mary Poppins.” But if you’re not into old movies, catch a new release on demand! A good movie is still a good movie, new or old.
7. Play with your makeup
When you get ready in the morning you only have a limited amount of time to get ready, do your makeup, and fix your hair. But, if you have a lot of time to yourself, I love to just play with my makeup. We all have that one eyeshadow palette with like a weird hot pink or mermaid blue that we cant really wear everyday. Now is the time to try it out!
